The ancestors
For many generations the Falchinis were vine growers, cellar masters, horticulturists. In particular they distinguished themselves in their services to the Medici family in Florence between the XVII and XVIII centuries.
In fact '..to Carlo Falchini son of Pier Giovanni son of Lorenzo, born the 22nd of August 1627, on the 19th of November 1682 was given the Florentine citizenship by the Sovereign for his loyal services.....'1
'His son Domenico, born October 22nd 1671, on the 4th of February 1710 took over from his father Carlo, already farm manager in Lappeggi, the management of the Azienda. The 22nd of July 1713 Domenico was nominated by His Royal Highness Cosimo III dei Medici, Supervisor of the Villa Lappeggi (Bagno a Ripoli, Florence).....'2
And in Lappeggi (1720) Domenico Falchini wrote his famous Trattato di Agricoltura ' on all things ..... concerning the cultivation of every kind, and teaching how to prune the vines and grow different types of noble wines .... white and red and how to make olive oil called virgin and more.'
'The 3rd of November 1729 Domenico left to his son Giovan Battista the guidance of the vineyards and winery of the Villa di Lappeggi, now Appeggi.'
Even today the Falchini family is committed to the care of the vineyards and the production of fine wines.
